English Language Learners (or ELL) is a service designed to meet the needs of English language learners in our area. The ELL teacher strives to ensure that each English language learner achieves a high level of proficiency in Listening, Speaking, Writing, and Reading while learning grade-level content at their proficiency level. The different proficiency levels are broken into Can-Do Descriptors as presented on the WIDA website. This is our national consortium for standards and assessments. We welcome our English language learners in Roanoke County Schools and hope to give them every opportunity to be successful in and out of the classroom!
